So, the word is that this thing has a 4.1" barrel. I'd love to buy one when they are available in Canada, but will stay away from them if they have any kind of silly extension bolted on. Any idea what the plan is for these?

Why didn't they just make the 22 the exact same size as the 9 and 40?

Wasn't that really the whole point?

    Probably a marketing thing.
Like Sig Mosquito...saturate the consumer with a dedicated M&P .22 platform.
Then a year later introduce the full size .22 and for those with 9 and 40...seperate slide kit........clever.

Just wait for a threaded model.
Strange as it seems like a standard option these days, ISSC, Sig, GSG, Ruger etc.

I'm still wondering if it will be full size or just 80%

check out the youtube videos from the SHOT show on them, they look to be full size other than shorter barrel length

As of right now, these are being made with a 104mm barrel so they are considered a prohib.

Will there be a Canadian version in the future? It's possible. It definitely won't be available anytime soon. The 106mm 686's are a testiment as to how long it takes to get a model made for the Canadian market.

It's a model that we're interested in bringing in, but the next model Canadian model were working on currently is a 629.

    We'll keep everyone updated.

    thanks,

Yes, please keep working on the 629. There are MANY 22's out there, but not enough shorter barreled 44 Magnums (and the 629 Classic with the full underlug will certainly add some class to any collection).
