nice
Probably, but designers, engineers and manufacturers get paid for coming up with new designs. Lots of things we could do without or do with an alternative - look how many different rifle sights there are for the AR family, for instance. Is one of them substantially better than the rest? Depends on who's talking, doesn't it?
Playing the Devil's Advocate, this puts a grip above and below the barrel and thus the centre of recoil; control would seem likely to be somewhat improved. It also would seem likely to get one's hands somewhat further away from the muzzle. Does that mean that one could not do the door-kicker routine without the thing? Of course not, but it's not an impractical toy, either. For one specific, limited role, it's good design.
My assault rifle self-identifies as a flintlock.
If you want to reduce obesity, banning spoons is pointless.
If you self-identify by your victimhood, you condemn yourself to remaining a victim.

Off topic, but, I really want to try shooting trap with this... and I would, except I am 100% sure the Vancouver Gun Club would kick me out for it.
These are sweet, I hate that zombie s**t but I'd buy one just for s**ts and giggles...if it wasn't 300 freakin dollars.
These are savage and un-necessary... but I do like them!
