Lots of places have the new commander in stock.
It is blued, and an enhanced model then what is on Marstar's website, I believe.

Better sights, Better fit and finish, Beavertail grip safety, front slide serations, and a strange trigger guard. LOL
Not sure if Marstar has em though.

Most people would say the full length one is better for a 1st 1911. But honestly, I don't think it matters too much. Get what ever looks / feels better to you.
I believe Jeff Cooper carried a light weight commander. Yet he recommended a full length 1911 over a steel frame commander due to the longer sight radius.
Read as much Jeff Cooper as possible.
