Basic Carbine Course - Dec. 6th and 8th (Tues. & Thurs) - 1 SPOT OPEN

Timings are 6pm to 10pm each night

The aim of the Basic Carbine course is to provide training to the recreational shooter, in reflexive practical shooting competitions, where both speed and precision are paramount, in order to be effective in competition scenarios.

The Basic Carbine Program is a two evening package progressing from dry to live training as follows:

Evening One – Dry & Live Instruction: Dry & Live instruction covers the fundamentals of reflexive shooting; such as body position, stance, grip, firearm drills, and the competition mindset.

Evening Two – Live Fire: The live fire component of the package comprises approximately 250 rounds carbine and 100 rounds handgun (transition drills) per candidate. The live fire, the main effort of the Program, develops both the muscle memory and the psychological comfort with one’s firearm and live ammunition that are fundamental to reflexive shooting.
This package is dynamic and continues to be refined with each serial conducted. It must not be viewed as a qualification or certification.

It is individual and personal interest training of a perishable skill that must be periodically refreshed.

Furthermore, it should be considered the first step into more challenging training, where imagination and initiative can develop a whole host of training scenarios.

Yes sir, Tuesday and Thursday kill it for me too! This seems like great value for money and I have taken a course like this before. I would love a weekend set up! Any alternatives JR?

Im from the Red Deer area and would be a definate yes on a weekend course.

On your day two description you mention live fire of 800 rounds rifle & 200 rounds pistol, but then your course requirements only list 250 rifle rounds and 100 pistol? I dont suppose you are including the extra ammo in the price of the course? : )

What course have you ever taken that included ammo in the price of the course?

When you shoot a match do you expect them to pay for your ammo above and beyond the minimum round count as well?

Give your head a shake.

Does MIL/LE cred cover the holster cert or are you looking for a black badge?

Not necessarily our holster course or BB are required. If you possess something similar from another organization, we may ask for a quick 'proof of competency' for safeties sake. I will stress that safety is always the priority, so you definitely should have done a holster course somewhere before! MIL/LEO will be okay.

This definitely won't be the ONLY course, we plan on running the Basic Carbine every other month with the Basic Holster course. Additional times slots are always in consideration.

Course of fire is 250 rounds rifle, 100 rounds pistol. Website will be changed to reflect this, thanks for the heads up. No ammo included, sorry ;)

Should be a great course! Count me in, Justin. I have to come by to sight in my new carbine either today or Saturday, so I'll sign up then. What's the max number of participants for the course? I may know a couple of guys that might be interested as well... ;)

I was joking about the ammo...lighten up.

Justin has now clarified my question.

We're only running at a course load of 8 people... two strings of 4 in the rifle bay. Plus it means myself and Brian will be able to give better individual instruction to the students.

@Hank; No room for sarcasm on the internet I guess :)
