    Too bad, I was thinking of this last night when I was taking the hand guard off mine, as I could not get the tabs to line up with the slots in the barrel easily for reassembly. I can see how that tolerance could be critical. Let us know how it goes!

    Almost exactly as stock, the rail is made of aluminum and sheet metal. It is super light. If you held an m14 without and with blindfolded you would not be able to tell the difference.

    My votrex 2.5 - 10 x 44 will need highs to work. With mediums the bell of the objective hits the rail.

    Mediums might work for you as you have 4 mm less, but highs will work.
