I do like the marlin's but I like the 92 and 94 the best.
The plan is to have a small carbine that is so light that it gets packed every where and has a 12 inch barrel small and light is what i am after

Just curious, if I'm not doing cowboy action shooting, wouldn't the .44 magnum be a much more powerful round? On paper it is and I wouldn't imagine you can load any of these Mare's Lags with hot .45LC. Waddaya think?

Foxer, which of the three would you recommend as the best for quality materials and workmanship. I don't live close enough to go to multiple stores to check them out. Methinks you is one of the smart guys when it comes to these little beasts.

I wood love a 44 mag the ammo is not so hard to find
I do wish thay wood start bing in sum of Chiappa 92 carbines in with the 12 inch barrel and in 44 mag
Chiappa do make them all ready!
Thy make a 12,16,and 20 inch barrel carbines ready to go
With 12 inch barrel the small carbine look like way to much fun to not bring it along out in the bush
as for shooting 45 colt hot lodes in a henry or 92 i dont think it wood be a problem if it is worked up slowly and for hunting good at blakpowder rang for hunting the 45 will hold its own if you can find the ammo that is were 44 mag is better

I handled a mare's leg and was not impressed with the stock. I agree that a full stock would be better.

    Yes, .45LC.
The stock looks to be easily changed. Just one screw I can see, unless there is another behind the butt plate like an Enfield.
I would love to try making one myself, if I have the time.
I will probably wind up buying One though. Just to have.
