    purchase from Quebec

Johnone, I would like to know what are your policies for the gun transfert with this new email from RCMP. You register the firearm before you ship to the client.. or now the client can register the firearm by himself.. ?!

    Thank you for your correspondence.

The first issue to be determined is whether the firearm is
non-restricted (most long guns, including any with which you can legally
    hunt, are non-restricted).

At this time, because the Ending the Long-Gun Registry Act (formerly
Bill C-19) has passed but an injunction has temporarily suspended its
application in Quebec, if a resident of Quebec purchases a
non-restricted firearm from outside that province, the new owner will
need to register it upon its arrival in Quebec. They can do so either on
    our website
    (http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/o...eg_enr-eng.htm)
or by using a paper form (CAFC998, available from our department upon
request). The necessary FRT and Verifier numbers are available by
calling 1-800-731-4000 when you have access to the firearm (or its
detailed specifications, including barrel length measurement).

The transfer of restricted or prohibited firearms to a new owner (who
must have a valid PAL including the class of firearm being transferred)
must be approved by the Canada Firearms Program before the firearm can
be released to the new owner. The transfer can be done over the phone by
calling 1-800-731-4000. Either the seller (giver) or the buyer
(receiver) may initiate a transfer. The party that initiates the
transfer must have the other person's information (name and firearm
license number). At least one of the parties involved must provide a
full description of the firearm(s) - make, model, serial number, gauge
or calibre, magazine capacity, and barrel length. It is quickest and
easiest if you call at a time when both parties are together and have
    access to the firearm(s).

You can also transfer restricted or prohibited firearms by completing a
paper form (CAFC 681), which must be completed with all the same
information as required for a telephone transfer, including Firearm
Reference Table and Verifier numbers, and must be signed by both
parties. Copies of this form can be requested by calling
    1-800-731-4000.

There is currently no fee for transferring firearms.

If we can be of further assistance, please feel free to contact us by
e-mail or call our office at 1-800-731-4000. Thank you.

So to everyone in the RoC who thought dealing with Quebecers suddenly required them to call in the sale of a non-res firearm to the CFC, this clearly explains that the onus is on the BUYER to go through with the registration, not the seller. This is true for both individuals AND businesses.

Ok.. thanks a lot John !

I'm always agree to follow the law.... I thought, with this email, that it was in the law to send before registration and the client register the firearm by himself......

With this injunction from Quebec... It's not always black or white... but very often grey !

    have a good weekend !

Since the latest Dealer Bulletin #79 from the RCMP has yet to be made available on their web site, would it be possible for you to post here on the forums?
