    steyr l9-a1 slide question

    I bought one of these last week and just got it the other day.
    I have a question and am hoping someone who owns one of these can answer it.

    Is it normal for there to be a gap (~2mm) between the slide and body at the front of the gun, compared to no gap at the back.
    There seems to be some spring to the slide and body and I can squeeze the two together, but thought this was unusual. I've tried to illustrate what I mean in the attached pictures. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

    Yes, it's normal. I had an M9-A1 and had the same gap.

    If you google for images you'll see plenty of L9A1s with that gap.

    As far as I can tell, it is intentionally designed that way, though I am unsure of the purpose.
