i don't see anything wrong replica cartouches on a stock...they look nice and they bring a nostalgic feeling to the piece.
what i do consider wrong is for someone to pass off a cartouche'd stock to fool people that its a genuine piece.
I should have qualified my post. A first time buyer of these rifles should realize the stocks are aftermarket and that's fine. After it changes hands once, twice or three times that info may not be passed along. For me if I were keeping it for life then sure the cartouches would be OK but we all know someone will be taken advantage of in the future by an unknowing or unscrupulous seller. Obviously there's nothing to stop a crook from adding stamps to an unmarked stock and this is why it is SO important to do your homework before buying.
