I'm curious about the barrel change system.

How do they retain the barrel? Don't tell me it's held in there by the gas block..

Does that totally ruin the surprise for you if I said it does?

Actually... the barrel extension looks like it has a lug system...

Yep, just like the Steyr AUG. the barrel is retained from rotating by the monolithic upper at the front of the handguard, not a true free float at all, but I'm sure it's more than rigid enough for handguard flex to not be a concern.

Awesome looking gun. Wouldn't mind getting one but how hard is it to get spare parts and extra mags?

I take it you mean before c-68 made them all prohibs right?

I'd only be interested if Steyr made a variant that used standard AR-15 barrel profiles, those barrels look proprietary and most likely would be uber bucks to buy/import.

    Guys,

The STM556 WILL be available in the future for purchase.

A semi automatic version of this rifle does not exist at the moment. I suspect it will be about 6 months before we get a prototype and submit it for classification.

At this point a good guess would be early 2014 until it's ready for purchase.

If anything changes, we will update.

    Thanks,
