I can't even begin to understand why a person would want this is 308... So many other guns already chambered for 308 that are better platforms. I think the VZ58 chambered in 5.45x39 would make WAY more sense and it would help bring in some cheap 5.45 surplus that the US is enjoying.

958.. and I was wondering the same thing.

I agree with some posters though, the vz58 platform is best suited for 762 short and thats it. Not .223, not .308.

I could be wrong though, it HAS been known to happen...

I think 7.62x54r would be more appropriate.

12 gauge or 5.45x39 is what I would like to see... We need a box fed semi auto shotgun in Canada other than that weird Chinese one CanAm brought in...

For me this in .308 would be great, same manual of arms as my 7.62x39.

It's a perfect idea for me.

Correct me if I'm wrong but in order to run 5.45x39 all you would need is a new barrel. If that is the case 5.45x39 makes the most sense because you would not need to redesign the whole gun..

Re-stating my interest in a 7.62 NATO CSA to counter all of the recent nay-sayers. Its a great idea.

If they could sell the VZ58 in 7.62 NATO for under $1200 it would fill a void. What other NR platform is there that is similar in value and not an 8lbs tank like the M1A? (I have one and love it but its a different category altogether IMO).
