Well yes still true, but as the law is actually written (see above posts), that is because they are over 500mm and "designed" to be fired with two hands. Where the law explicitly says the opposite is not legal, you can't take a crossbow "designed" to be fired with one hand and put something on it so it can be fired with two.

The original design intent (aim and fired with one hand or two hands) and overall length are the determining factors.

Of course I'm taking what rusty posted as the law, I again haven't looked it up - #### me why do I post anymore...

Unfortunately in this day and age, that means squat. 'Approved' firearms have become 'unapproved' very quickly... I can think of a few.

I don't know anything about crossbows, but for 45 dollars can I shoot anything with this?

It has about 30 lbs draw weight, but I would not try taking out anything bigger than a Raccoon or a Cat with it.
I keep mine next to my gun cabinet and so far everybody who has seen it has been more interested in it than in my guns. .............and I have some interesting guns
