I watched a number of youtube vids of these 70 rd drums. In all of them the bolt was not held back. The 25 rd stick did hold the bolt back in the vids.

BTW does anyone know yet if these will work in the model 70? Marlin made them for over 20 years and you would think that is a market worth checking this for.

Mind reader. I have a 17M2 Marlin bolt gun though, a 917M2. It's mags are interchangeable with the 795, so this might make for one kooky-looking rifle. (talkin' the 30, not the frying pan)

I might have to sell the old cooey for a marlin.
The wild still lingered in him and the wolf in him merely slept

I have put about 3000 rounds through the 70 and 30 rnd drums now. Very fun. The 70 is rather large and heavy. The 30 is my choice. It tucks up under the gun nicely. Doesn't hang down like the stick or 70 drum. I recommend solid round nose for reliable feeding. The issues I have had have been with hollow point ammo, they get hung up on the feed ramp once the gun gets dirty. I haven't had one single failure with CCI Blazer round nose yet. So far there are no cracks or issues of that sort. I would recommend these to any one with a Marlin 795. If I already didn't have a 70 and two 30s, I would be ordering another 30. Side note: If you buy a Marlin795-clean before you shoot. Metal shavings in the action.

What ever happened to the drum mags? Are they coming? did they already come and are now gone? I just got 2 of the stick mags from Hical and they work great. They are super LONG thought and can only be used with my Bipod fully extended. The 30 round drum would have to be shorter... id like to have at least one.
