Today was shotgun buying day.
I knew what I wanted. I knew who had stock and I knew what prices were being offered online.
I also like to support local merchants and deal face to face.
So off I go to the SHWA where I am going to show them how a savvy negotiater makes a buy.

It starts well, they have the Mossberg mini in 20ga. on the rack. I ask about the stock extention. Huh?
Well they have more in the back so a fresh box comes out and sure enough the extention is there.
Then I mention that ### has it $30 less. No problem, checked it online and they price match.
Ha! The master negotiater lives.
Let's wrap this up and leave with the savings,,,,,,,, Not.
I was scanning around and What! Is tht a CZ 512 in .22WMR,,, Yep, last one.
Oooops, sold, no negotiating.

While they are doing the paperwork we are jawing about old time Gun stores.
I mentioned working a Modern Gun Shop in the 60s for College money.
The "kid" in his 30's says, That was Ivan something, a real character.
Shot some robbers in the middle of Danforth Rd I heard.

Yes, I was there, tied up in the basement with the store secretary and just as
happy to be below ground during the shooting. But how would you know about that?
You wern't even born.

It turns out his Father knew of it and all the old shops in the East end from those days.
Modern, Holman and Hickey, Hallams and let's not forget Hurculese Sports.

So I told him the whole story, we wasted about a half hour during which he sold me some extras.

And I left having spent triple what I thought I would, but smiling, because it was fun to hang out
at a real shop with knowledgable people that take the time to keep a customer.

Two thumbs up to Gagnons
