14.5 semi auto is restricted.
Mutter87 LOL welcome to the world of Canadian gun laws.
Basically, a rifle can be classed restricted because of:
- the length of the barrel (under 18.6)
- the overall length of the gun itself
- guns named specifically as restricted
In this case, #3.
Better asked in the black rifle forum, but the SL8 comes to mind.
Love the 416 its a work of art. Some day!

[QUOTE=Mutter87;9177762]What's the reason behind this? It's a larger firearm, it's a semi auto and if the mags are pinned to 5 then what's the big deal? Doesn't make much sense to me.
Reason is strictly political... it makes canadians streets a safer place apparently... Or so they say. I bought a 22lr rifle... restricted! Classed as an ar variet. Only thing ar interchangeable is pretty well the trigger. What a crock of ####! Trust me ur not the only one scratchin ur head over the whole scenario. But the more people aware of how ridiculous our restrictions the better. Eventually we'll get the changes we'd like to see?
