NORINCO has made a 40. You just need to know where to get them. Contact DARK International. They were made exclusivley for them.

For $400 I caved. I already have two SAM stainless commanders (9 & 45) & they are great. Well finished, tight as a drum and accurate. I needed this like a (40 cal.) hole in the head but where can you get a fully loaded 1911 in any configuration for $400? Even a bone stock GI Norinco is $325 so that price was too good to pass up. Besides, I already reload 40 for my Glock 22 and 40 S&W Beretta CX4 so what the hell. Money's only good for what you can buy with it.

As for sights I don't know about the front but the rear is supposed to be a Novak cut. I'm sure Wolverine can tell you what the front sight cut is.

Don't be so sure about that.
Listen, and understand. That Liberal is out there. It can’t be bargained with. It can’t be reasoned with. It doesn’t feel pity, or remorse- only fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until your guns are gone.

I am a huge 1911 fan and have been shooting them for many many years. The SAMs are a very good quality gun and I personally feel they are great value for dollar, and we just don't see them back in the door for warranty or repair issues.

Well I did, specially at this price. I can't find a darn 10mm at an affordable price anywhere. Now I have the basis for one.

Now, can any knowledgeable person tell me if a 40S&W 1911 barrel can be reamed to 10mm, or do I have to start looking for an un-ramped aftermarket barrel for my budget 10?

Exactly what I'm planning for mine. Check fusion firearms for the barrel.
