it was about a year ago that the were talking about this... last feb i think actually.
The Northern Guard carbines were the brainchild of Steve Troy, North Sylva and myself - to add a distinct Canadian flavour to the Troy line, outsourcing is comman with all AR 15 manufacturers and most if not all companies do not make every part that is required to complete the carbines...

Pricing is on par with US retail and some of the higher priced Troy products in Canada are based on importation that circumvents the normal supply chain, I cannot speak or comment to pricing as we will have to see what Shot Show brings for the new year...

I see , so the over priced troy parts we are seeing in Canada right now are ones that are "gray market" imports?
And we should see troy products imported from you/ NS at close to us retail going forward?
That would be good too see.
Is there a list of troy retailers in Canada?

Currency flactuations aside - that would be a safe assumption in most cases, dealers can contact North Sylva and obtain pricing for all their assorted products, SFRC & PD & TSC etc (no offence meant to anyone I did not mention) are some of the companies that stock Troy...

Also items purchased via the grey market do not carry the warranty.

I already had that with a vendor with a product brought in this way. The manufacturer would not honour the warranty.

Increased price plus the chance you take.

Last year I really wanted a Colt AR. But when I contacted Colt Canada regarding my potential purchase via grey market, this is where I learned that should my investment have an issue, I have no recourse for repair or replacement.

We are a Troy reseller and we currently have the Troy 16" Northern Guard rifles in but can order the other lengths if you want.

Sorry for the necro thread revival here.

I was researching the Troy Northern Guard AR and it lead me to this thread.
Just saw the 16" model with the M-Loc type fore end at my LGS. Can't get the gun out of my head. It is so light and natural to hold.
I've never heard of the Nothern Guard till now. Seems like its been around for 2 years now.
Any issues, shooting reports, reviews on this gun?
Please tell me this gun sucks as I really don't need another AR!
