For those that have not decided on going to Wolverine days,
I would suggest checking it out today.
Virden is about 290km (180 miles) from Winnipeg ,and
when ever I am out there I have had no time to check the shop out.
Told the wife we were going out to save some money picking up ammo by the case
My son and I got there just before 10:00 and there was several people
in the store, besides the orderly line up to register.
After a little window shopping we went up to check out the range.
With the wide selection of firearms to try (experience) the first
batch of ammo tickets went fast. I say experience because you can
tell some one about trying a 22 rife, but some firearms you just have to
experience for your self.
Even the demonstrations of their historical firearms is something you just
have to see for yourself.Because in Canada these are the only times you
will see these firearms fired the way they should be.
The first employee fired an AK-47.You had to see the smile on her face
after emptying the magazine in two bursts. After another employee she took
another turn with the AK-47,emptying two more in short bursts before having to
put on a glove for the heat.
The Lewis was one of my favorites. There was others to see but watching
a gentleman of the same vintage fire the last pancake from the hip was great.
Some of the firearms that the public could fire you just don't see.Like when do
you get to hold a 470 nitro never mind put a couple round through it.
Sorry for going on like I am new to firearms, even though there was alway a dozen
or so in the house when I was growing up.But this trip helps pass this interest
on to my son as my father did for me.Of the ones I remember my son trying there was
9mm Glock
45 long colt revolver
45 1911
44 Eagle
tactical 12g
50 bmg which he got to keep the brass.
Then after a great time we needed to make some perches and head for home.
It was great to talk face to face with staff and vender reps.I had not
planed on buying a scope yet,as I have not made up my mind on the rifle.
But the Vortex were the same price as in the city with an extra 10% discount.
I hope the person that sold them their new POS system has not been payed yet.
I forgot the numbers at home and he could not find the surplus ammo I wanted
in the system. There was a long line so I said just put the scope on the card for now.
My fault for paying the total and not looking at the invoice till I got home.
The system had the price wrong and the discount.I will just contact them on Monday
to sort it out.
