Why do so many savage rimfires have heavy or heavy-ish barrel profiles?
I was intrigued by the 16” barrel Stevens savage trapper .22WMR last year...
Until I picked it up
I can’t imagine a bolt action rf is going to get used for sustained rapid fire
I like to hunt, but these guns are way too heavy to be carrying around.
I don’t mind a 7pound 300wm, but a 22 should be light

Ah... don't be a wimp lol j/k
Seems like they have a bunch of different models, I haven't looked at all of them or the spec but the B17G looks nice
Thanks for the tip
The new B22 with wood stock looks pretty slick.
I’d be all over that, as I’m looking for another .22 bolt gun
Upside: ss barrel light, nice action, nice lines, unique
Downside is wood is mystery “walnutstained” ( their word) wood, $600 cdn

many heavy barrelled rimfire rifles out there. The barrel is more rigid for more accuracy and more consistency. It also stays cool longer in rapid fire. Yes its heavier, and you have a valid point, but maybe you don't buy this one for long hunting trips where you are not going to shoot much.
the CGN formerly know as John_in_BC
Hmmm, a Savage that goes from their mediocre standard magazine, to the even worse Bmag style. I'll pass, thanks!
How is the bmag inferior? I know about the ruger and browning mags they seem ok.
