"If someone has a gun and is trying to kill you, it would be reasonable to shoot back with your own gun." - Dalai Lama, 2001.
“Among the many misdeeds of British rule in India, history will look upon the act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest.” -Mahatma Gandhi
That is not the responsible thing to do. "No comment" is a killer when the CPS are giving interviews and releasing statements after they asked me to be all hush hush.
It is far better to get out in front of it and explain. We have a layered system. Its simply that some critical layers did not work.

It is better to get out in front of the issue to show that security measures were being taken....if you relie on the media and the public to draw their own conclusions , it is hard to know what conclusions they might draw....plus , it is good to let the criminals know that there will be increased security at the store including security staff on site through the night . CGN is an open firearm forum ; I am sure that there are alot more than just law abiding gun owners using the site....the word of increased security needs to get out....
I cannot believe people are raggin on JR for how the handguns were stored. They were stored legally and the same way many many shops store them. The CFO approved of this method of storage, the insurance company approved of this method of storage, what more do you people want? Having worked in gun shops I agree 100% with his statement about putting them away every night, they get beat up if you do that. In jewelry shops you're dealing with stuff that weighs about 1% or less of a gun, that's sitting on a padded display board. You pick the whole thing up and put it away, not so with guns. When you have a layered system that fails, there isn't much you can do to prevent the theft of your stuff, this is not TSE's fault. It's the fault of the scum bag who stole the stuff.

It's always more fun to shoot stuff that does stuff.

There are several options for more secure display cases, they are however not inexpensive.
There are bullet resistant glass systems that would be extremely difficult to break into. but are quite expensive and hard to source if damaged.
Welded steel frame cabinets with 19mm tempered glazing and laminated 3m films on both the interior and exterior would be a more cost effective solution and incredibly difficult to break into. there are also multi layer vandalism films you could use on the exterior layer when scratches become an issue.
