STI Sporting Rifle - AR-15

I just got mine this morning...sweet..sweet..sweet. I have had a couple Armalites (carbines in 14.5 and 16")...but this one with the nice a2 style stock, and very nice trigger kinda makes them seem boring. installed one JP rail at 9oclock, an Eotech and an ERGo grip. Can't wait to sight it in.

This thread has got me eyeing one of the STI's (probably the sporting rifle) as my first AR.

What's your opinion on the compensator?

I find it rediculously loud, even to the shooter... but I'm still on the fence about whether to mess with a good thing.

It works...and works well. All comps will be loud. Definitely double plug...although outdoors in the open i use surefire or silencio ear plugs.

I love mine! Yes like Mo said, they are loud but all comps are loud. I have to double plug and so does everyone else around me.
I have the tactical model but I would prefer the competition model.

I have the gas block, but not the hand guard. Due to the craziness in the US, STI's AR parts (and rifles) are really back ordered. My next shipment from STI is late May, I might get some hand guards then.

Due to the current insanity in the US with regards to ARs - we won't likely be seeing STI's complete rifles before July -August.
