    Another AR Magazine Ruling...

We just got word that the RCMP have made another ruling that could affect Canadian gun owners.

The Chiappa AR15 M4 (22lr) is going to be available in both a rifle and a pistol version...

The pistol version and rifle version both use the same 28 round magazine and since the magazine was designed and manufactured to be used and sold with BOTH the handgun and the rifle the RCMP have ruled that this magazine is a dual purpose magazine and therefore ruled it a handgun magazine and legally limited to 10 rounds regardless of the firearm in which it is subsequently used in.

Not sure why this ruling has not yet been "officially" released but expect to see this information sent out to importers and CFO's in the very near future.

Last time we posted this type of info (about the S&W M&P 15-22 magazine issue) I was accused of having ulterior motives and vested interests... neither of which were the case. In this instance we do not have any interest or benefit or involvement with importing or selling the Chiappa firearms. We make this information available only so that firearm owners can be aware of what is happening behind the scenes and what rulings are being made. I seriously considered keeping this information to ourselves and waiting... but I don't want to see people get into trouble or buy products that are already known to be contentious... so I'm making the information public. If people want to call me names or make accusations then so be it.

If you have any doubts of the validity of this information may I suggest that you write to:

I, for one, never thought any less of Questar in regards to the S&W mag issues that have been mentioned. We're all in this together and it's nice that someone (Questar) is letting us know what the hell is going on when things are being changed behind closed doors.

THANKS AGAIN QUESTAR - YOU GUYS ROCK!!!

Now, what are Canadian gun owners going to do about this? Just roll over and take it like usual? When is that final straw going to be broken to get the FED UP III rally going? Never? Enough is enough, time to draw that line in the sand. If not this issue, then what?

Then what? I don't know, but it likely won't be over a tacticool .22 that pretty much nobody owns.

Honestly? I'm not even sure a ban on 10/22 25 rounders would do it.

Maybe once they target the Winchester 100's, rem 760's, and 1100's people may get off their butts.

With the fear of being called crypto-liberal or something worse (I can't think of something worse but people have fertile imaginations), the RCMP simply apply the same logic that gave us 10 round AR mags. They are labeled as handgun magazines by RRA and presto, can be used in rifles. What really sucks here is not the RCMP (well they suck sometimes too) but the moronic law of magazine capacity! When I wrote to Gary B. about the gun registry and gun laws and told him the magazine section, among others, is simply the act of simpletons that wanted to prove to little old ladies in Montreal that they are tough on gun crime and the conservatives should change some sections, I was told in no uncertain terms that there is "no such strong demand from gun owners themselves!". I am sure that even raving liberals on a moment of mental clarity do recognize that if one wants to shoot up a lot of people, he can carry more mags and mag capacity plays no factor in crime. However, what fraction of the shooting fraternity raised hell for 5 rounders in semi autos or 10 rounders in pistols? This is the problem NOT the dual purpose classification. Why can't S&W and Chiappa knowing that they are dealing with Canadian laws designate their magazine's accordingly, like 10 rounds for the pistol and 25 rounders for rifle? Would that stop the RCMP, maybe not but it makes easier for a way out.

    My own two bits
