God and the Soldier we alike adore
In times of danger and not before.
The danger past and all conflict righted
God is forgotten, the Soldier slighted.
Unfortunely, you are closer to the truth then you wish. The same was true in Australia back in 1996.
Both the Sale rally and the Melbourne State Lego Building rally both had some 250,000 people at each, they shud have had more, but all the Fudds stayed home because the gov't song was that it was only the evil black guns that were to be seized. We all know want the final out come was!!!

Not to hijack the thread, but in my (perhaps naive) opinion all this nonsense might actually end if we brought to the attention of Conservative MPs the fact, confirmed by the very organizations hired to enforce and monitor the Firearms Act - Justice Ministry, RCMP and Statistics Canada - that since enacting the FA and corresponding sections of CCC re magazine capacity limitations, no effort was ever made to monitor compliance levels and to find out what impact limitations had on violent crime in Canada.
That was the goal of the letter writing campaign that I started a few months ago in another forum.
I've made a point of researching this specific issue via FOI requests to all interested organizations and each of them did not find any data regarding magazine capacity as it applied to gun use in crime.
They don't know if crimes were deterred by blocked magazines or if criminals bothered to unblock previously blocked magazines. In other words they don't have an idea what percentage of crimes where guns were used was with compliant magazines and what percentage with magazines over capacity limit.
Similarly they don't know what impact on harm to the victim had the prohibition of handguns with 105mm barrels and shorter.
They don't know because they don't collect data. The unfounded assertions that were made in order to introduce the limitations obviously had nothing to do with reality, and it would be an embarrassment for the government to try collecting data disproving those assertions.
Test drive is over, time to return the car to the dealer, i.e. to scrap Firearms Act as violation of our rights based on unfounded assertions.
"The semi-automatic weapons’ menacing looks, coupled with the public’s confusion over fully automatic machine guns versus semi-automatic assault weapons — anything that looks like a machine gun is assumed to be a machine gun — can only increase that chance of public support for restrictions on these weapons." — Josh Sugarmann, 1988
