724.99 is the final price before taxes and shipping ? I noticed on the Ruger site the MSRP is 799.00 ? If that's correct it's an awesome deal.

I note that the ad states that the slide is made of stainless steel.
What material is used for the frame?

    Thank you.

I believe both the frame and slide are stainless but the slide is machined and the frame is cast.

Not to upset anyone. But anyone in retail knows the MSRP only serves to allow the retailer to calculate their cost without actually telling them their cost.

For example an MSRP of $799.00 with an A discount means the dealer cost is 399.50 (plus shipping and whatever taxes and duties are applied). An MSRP with a B discount means the dealer cost is $479.40 ( (plus shipping and whatever taxes and duties are applied).

In normal retail (like clothing and such) markup is usually like 100% to 300%. The furniture and electronics (including computers) is closer to since digit margin like 8 or 9% because of companies like the brick who make most of their money in volume and kickbacks from HFC. In the musical instrument market, it is usually 20% to 25%. In firearms it is likely closer to the musical instrument market of 20%. In the USA, anyone selling at $724.99 with an MSRP of 799 is really making a large margin, whereas in Canada, the same cannot be said to be true since the Canadian dealer, although they should be paying the same dealer cost will have to pay a lot of extra fees like for import permits, brokerage, etc., etc.. That is why when we see a price in Canada on firearms close to the US MSRP we think that it is good, this is by no fault of the retailer. The MSRP of this firearm speaking in terms of canada, and what the US margin would be should be closer to $1099.00.

Which means IShootHostages is right -- this is an awesome deal.
Indicating the depth of her research on the issue, she said on Dec. 21st that she had personally looked at pictures of guns in 1993, and again in 2012.
