Type 81 definitely. Would be a plus if it came with a chrome bore, that would make it competitive with the NR vz's (since there seems to be enough interest in a chrome/NR bbl for those atleast). The Floro looks fun, I don't think I would spend anymore than $1000 on one though.

If the Type 81 shoots as good as it looks, I am in.

The Type 81 is also compatible with 75-round drum magazine and 20-rounds special purpose magazine." (according to military-today.com)

Another good reason it shouldn't be considered an AK variant.

Conflicting reports. We'll see what Tactical Imports says.

World gun says it uses Type 56 magazines:

"Ammunition is fed from Type 56 (Kalashnikov) 30-round magazines, or from 75-round drums intended for the Type 81 light machine gun."

    From gunsandammo:

"There are three types of magazines the 30-round box magazine for the standard rifle, the 75-round drum for the light machine gun and the odd 20-round special-purpose mag. The 30-rounder seems to be similar to the regular AK mag, but it's slightly wider and will not fit into an AK. Kalashnikov mags are not compatible with the 81. The 75-round drum was originally designed for another earlier cancelled project, the Type 74 light machine gun. Internally, the drum resembles a mixture of the designs found in the Thompson and PPSh-41"

We'll just add up how many websites say what, and decide that way! lol

Hopefully you're right, as I still think I have some AK mags around here somewhere...

Edited to add: Templar, one of the mods at M4carbine.net, tested one of the few type 81's in the US in 2009, and with regard to mags noted that:
"We actually tried both Euro and Chinese AK mags and they will not lock into the receiver at all....totally unuseable."

That being said, I've also found the following:
"The first Type 81s used magazines that were more closely patterned after the Type 63 (aka, Type 68 in many Western sources), which introduced that bolt hold-open and are not compatible with standard AKM magazines. At some point, somebody had the sudden thought, "Hey, we have ∞,000,000 Type 56 magazines that are 98% the same, but now non-compatible..." A bit of redesigning was ordered and many Type 81s are backwards-compatible"

    So, who knows!!!

Well regardless of what the official Type 81 takes, I think for practicality's sake this one should take standard AK mags. Unless that would require seriously redesigning the firearm, in which case it isn't worth it.

81 - barrel length 470, so it should be non-restricted. Initial MSRP should be over $1000, otherwise CFC will try to reclassify them, but you can sell a lot of them at $899 or so.

Type 81 is neat but realistically it would have to be priced competitively with 858's.
