This looks way good. whats the difference with this and armacoat? thinner? is this scratch and rust proof like armacoat?

Arma-Coat is a spray on coating which can go on any surface. The scratch and rust proofing of Nitron is very close but the arma-coating will be a bit better for extreme corrosion due to it being an actual coating.But the Nitron is a much thinner finish so no tolerance changes to the part or receiver. But since this goes on stainless steel you will still have a very bulletproof finish that looks OEM and looks great.

Can this be done to the CZ 858's Murdoc?
If so witch one is more corrosive resistant?

Yes it can be done to carbon steel as well. We will be offering Nitron 858's very shortly.

You refer to this process as a "thin finish". Remington refers to using TriNyte as a protective coating. Are they the same?

Is Nitron blackening a coating or is it an actual blackening of the stainless? Like the blueing process on regular steel.

Remington calls it a coating but it is not a spray on coating,it is a chemical conversion coating process(technical term for it). So sometimes the word coating can get confused with spray on coatings. The Nitron finishing process we offer is an immersion bath process. The Arma-Coat Nitron process will go on carbon & Stainless Steels.

How durable is the Nitron finishing? Like, if i got say a gunsite scout, am I going to end up with scratch lines all over the place with the stainless showing through?

As a side topic... What would it take to convince you guys to do nitro-carburizing?

The Nitron Finish is a very,very tough finish. The only way you would damage the finish is under excessive abuse such as severe metal to metal contact or dropping it on the pavement.

It would take some serious convincing to start nitro-carburizing. It offers no benefit over the Nitron in my opinion.

Just thinking out loud here, if one were to apply this treatment to a stainless revolver, should one expect to see it wearing off around the usual cylinder "drag line" area? (frequent metal-to metal contact) or should we expect some longevity even there?

We can Nitron finish the internal and external parts of the firearm. We also can Nitron Finish Carbon and stainless Steel as well.

The M14 would look nice with Nitron or Arma-Coat. Really it comes down to what color you want. Nitron is going to be black and thats it. But if you go arma-coat you can go multiple colors. So since you want your rifle Black and the fact that is a M14 you would probably want it to look like a springfield M1A, I would choose the Nitron. It would give the rifle a classic original look like a springfield.
