    Guys,

It's a little confusing. Leaving aside the legal aspects (because I have no doubt about the full legality of these guns imported in Canada):

As they are marked .223, can they shoot 5.56 NATO as well? With what implications? Imediate safety concerns? Long term barrel deterioration? Accuracy issues? Or non of the above and "go for it, use with no problems .223 Rem or 5.56 NATO"?

Anyway, these are awesome guns at very good prices.

    Thanx

In very simple terms the 5.56 mm NATO chamber is designed to allow top reliability under military conditions using any 5.56 mm NATO ammo which can come from a number of manufactures throughout the world. The 5.56 mm NATO brass casing will normally be a little thicker than commercial 5.56 Rem, again to assist in providing reliable performance under adverse conditions. The commercial .223 Rem chamber is held to slightly “tighter “ specifications in order to enhance accuracy. For all practical purposes the cartridges are interchangeable.

Small arms ammo loaded to NATO specs will be marked with a head stamp comprising of a cross in a circle.

Currently the US State Dept will not approve the export for commercial sale of firearms chambered in 5.56 mm NATO. There are no Canadian import restrictions on 5.56 mm NATO caliber firearms. There are no legal implications on Canadians owning firearms chambered in 5.56 mm NATO.

I'm sorry but I have to disagree, the differences between 5.56mm and .223 Rem are well documented. SAAMI does not recommend firing 5.556mm in a .223 chamber due to fact that their is 10 000 CUP difference in pressure, combine this with a chamber that is tighter than normal and you're compounding the problem.

Why would you choose to have the rifles chambered in .223 Rem when offering the same barrel in .223 Wylde would solve any safety concerns? I for one would love to get my hands on DD lightweight. Sadly I won't be purchasing one if it comes with a Rem chamber.

Thanks, for the video. It was entertaining. I have no doubt any brand of AR subjected to the same level would have similar chances of passing the "tests" put before it.

Good marketing on D.D.'s part though.

Models approved for export are limited but we this is something that we are looking into.

Interesting considering the Chrome-lined DPMS M4-style AP4 barrels you are selling are chambered for 5.56 NATO and are also so marked. Or is a loose barrel regulated differently than a complete firearm?
Here's to the left-handed Type 97 for bear defence.
