why is the 12.5 inch one with more material cheaper then this smaller 8.5" inch version?

Whats reliability been like for this brand?

Novelty and demand I would guess.

And there are many happy owners here who own these products. Don't think I have ever read a bad review.

its harder to manufacture a 8.5 as it requires a lot of modification from the original 870 design, a 12.5" is just a 870 copy no modifications needed.

Initially yes, but it's not like these are made by hand.

They would have made their money back on the setup, and design already. Once the tooling is all set up there is no difference.

The difference is in the volume and market size.

We often look at pricing as a simple equation.
Cost of production + Cost of delivery to retail + X% mark up = retail price.

For the importer of specialty items, they can often work backwards.

When the market is limited and the product is in demand but unlikely to be filled by another source, the starting point can be the maximum retail price the target buyer would pay.

You might view it as gouging, but I look at it as the cost of doing business.

If there is added profit in bringing in specialty items, importers will do it. If they pad the profit margin too greatly, other importers will squeeze the margins by competing for the same business.

    Thanks,
havent heard much about them. With a mossberg 500 on there site for 20 bucks less, curious to see how it stacked up. Obviously different barrel lengths though.

I figure the 8.5" inch has novelty factor perhaps over other tactical shotguns so you pay the premium for it. As there isnt really another competitor for same size etc?

I have one and i made test over the Oehler with slugs and it is amazing how little velocity you lose and accuracy seem to be good, one think is sure those are built tough , they weight in excess of 6.5 pounds, very good quality piece if you toss aside the finition that is ordinary shall i say... suppose for home defense it would be pretty good as it would be smallest over all length you could get? Not that I worry about that very much, its canada afterall we all leave our doors unlocked and say thank you to everyone we meet.
