Yap. Kimber high end. Initially I thought that only the four debated here rule this world.

But I think we should leave aside preconceptions and look for facts and measurables. Kimber makes very nice 1911’s, accurate, beautiful innovative designs (compare for instance with the rather plain Les Bauers), reliable and “sweet”.

    My two cents, of course.

For those that think Kimbers are "high end":

Of the makers listed, Ed Brown is my pick: no forward slide serrations! Granted, any of the others will build them any way you want.

Another 'smith worth mentioning is Paul Liebenberg of Pistol Dynamics. His duplicate of the old Pachmayr Combat Special has a certain old-school appeal to it.

    The Scout is also neat:

I own a Desert Warrior. Awesome gun. Replace a few parts and you have a ultra reliable gun that is great quality. Still not near the price of a nice Les Baer. I will probably buy a Les Baer in the future though.

Out of the list from the OP I would put Les Baer and Wilson together at the top. Now that Bill Wilson has basically handed the reins to his son I wonder if things will change?

Ive got an Ed Brown Speacial forces. Its a great shooter from the trigger to the recoil i still giggle every time i take it out its a real joy to own one.

If your looking for a high-end 1911 i would say any of the big 4 you cant go wrong with. They make so many different models and styles of
1911's just save up for the one you want and never look back, the real question is can you own just one 1911 !!!!

Wow! I thought Ed Brown would love to promote a company with fine
handguns of the 1911. I guess he is gun shy. I was looking to getting
one of these fine custom guns from this man, but looking at this youtube
video, just ignoring the chance on promoting his product has turned me off.
Sorry Ed Brown you keep your guns I'll will be buying My Colt instead.
