I was told the other day that the US government has started denying export permits for all .223 ammunition. Do you know if this is correct, and if it is, do you know the reason, and how it is expected to impact supply? Thanks.

source?
Let's play a really fun game called "shut the hell up". You can go first.
Google comes up with this link from BCFISHING, who are quoting from the CSSA.
Searched CSSA website, found their Jan 2009 update to be the source of this information. So I think we're okay... that was 3 years ago
The source was a local gun dealer. She is knowledgeable. She offhandedly suggested stocking up on .223 as the US govt has stopped issuing export permits for it. I figured this would be one of those democratic back door gun control measures, but figured if nothing else that SFRC would have heard about it as they are high volume importers.
delete.
Look at the date: Feb 2009....
Prices have dropped over 1/3 since then and availability has increased.
I see no problems.

It's been a rumor that keeps popping up. Not your fault, you're just passing along info that might help other shooters. But what I've learned from reddit, we always gotta check sources for ourselves![]()
