The more important question is if a bear put three of these on which gun would you require for armoured bear defence

The real problem here seems to be range safety or lack there of. If the safety at that range is so poor that people get hit by bullets, I'd consider not shooting there anymore. No vest is going to stop a bullet to the head/neck or femoral.

What body armour laws are there in Nova Scotia ? Did the proposed laws ever become law ?

Interested but I'll wait on it.
I checked 3 or 4 websites of various armor makers and they basically all said the same thing:

"Non custom vests using generic sizing are done by measuring completely around the chest at nipple height with arms at sides, making sure to keep the tape at an equal height around the chest, the measurement taken as an average of breathing. Take measurement over clothing to be worn under the vest."

    Sizes from Inter-American Security are:
    SM 34-36_____XL 46-48
    MD 38-40_____XL 50-52
    LG 43-44____XXL 54-56

Sounds like a Medium for me: I an very "average" and chest is at 39" average of breathing.
