Got it today.
The safety is very very hard to move, to the point where it's not moving at all sometimes. Is there a takedown manual somewhere that illustrates how to disassemble the shotgun and clean the internals?
*edit: I also noticed just now that it actually doesn't work. When the safety is on and I pull the trigger, the hammer falls, pin strikes and the external safety switches itself to 'fire'. So it's more decorative than functional I guess.
The safety is functional. Yours has a problem. I saw a youtube video where a kid cleaned one, and it explained the steps clearly. On youtube, search polishing jw 2000. I couldn't find disassembly, but there is a good reassembly video by the same kid. Steps are clear. Just do it in reverse.
Thats probably the best thing to do or there are some manuals online. There is probably some grit in it. If you keep having the problem let us know.
I cannot fix the safety. Except when I am physically holding it down with my thumb, the safety does not work at all - when I pull either trigger the safety moves on it's own and the hammers fall.Originally Posted by Hungsolo

I know this a long time later, but I took mine apart today to clean it up and found a number partially tightened screws, the one holding the safety is one of them. The final QA on these was pretty poor. Consequently, the trigger blocking gadget was flopping around. Safety still worked but not by much.
The wise thing to do with any JW-2000 is to tear down the action by removing the sidelocks at a minimum, and cleaning all parts, lube with a decent lube, reassemble with loktite.
They have a reputation for shooting themselves loose if you don't. Mine certainly would have.
Otherwise, the materials look to be of good quality.
