While you don't deserve any help, I would suspect that if you called epps, they will help you out. Probably refund the price of the barrel and likely repair your gun and only charge you their cost.

i think maybe an issue is some time in 1997 mossberg changed around some specs on the recievers im not sure if all modles where affected can grech outdoors they handle all warranty issues with mossberg and might be able to tell you wht went wrong maybe the barrel is not the right one for your gun being it was made +/- 1997 as well as the barrel

grech outdoors 519-509-4867 also to the OP was size shell where you useing and what was marked on the barrel?

    You explained it quite well:

You deliberately damaged your own shotgun

Now, please explain why someone else should pay for your stupidity!

Why didn't you compare the two barrels side by side before installing and using the crappy one?! If you would have done that, you would have seen the differences between the barrels. Instead of taking out the old one, going "hmmm herp de derp" and popping in the one from epps. Be glad you still have your hand FFS.

this is always funny. some kid thinks he's smart enough to be a gunsmith and change out his own shotgun barrel, screws it up and posts a comment on here creating doubt that EPPS is honorable. Is EPPS supposed to drill everyone that orders somthing? Hello I would like to order a barrel for my mossberg 930 and I see that you have one. EPPS reply Is: yes sir but let me ask you a few questions......do you really have a shotgun, is it really a Mossberg? do you know haw to use a wrench? How do you take your coffee? do you like nuts? how many fingers an i holding up? what is my favorite color? Left or right? up or down? It is NOT EPPS resposability to know what shotgun you have.......IT'S YOURS.....you do the reserch and then place the order.....and if you dont INSPECT the barrel BEFORE discharging a shell than that not only waves EPPS from ANY resposability but also makes you dangerous and have your licence questioned, someone could have been hurt! Listen if you had a problem with what happened you should have just called EPPS to resolve the issue, not post here, if i was EPPS I would have paid to have the barrel sent back and send you the proper one if one was in stock or give you your money back, but now I would tell you to Pound Sand.

Sorry if any of thIs pisses you off but I just hate it when people come on here and start problems for a Business that are here in Canada getting us the things that we love to have, remember EPPS and ALL the other firearms dealers in canada are helping us out....lets not try and make them look bad possibly harming there business.......so they can no longer afford to supply us with the things that we need and want.......GUNS!!!!

I knew that cutting down a barrel isn't an issue, but i was under the assumption that a smoothbore cant be cut because that changes the shot pattern to something different than factory. But like you said, i looked it up and yea as long as its no shorter than 18.5 its fine. Appreciate the help on clearing that up.

Not sure how this has anything to do with EPPS?
You buy a used barrel and dont take the trouble to make sure it matches your shotgun. You can buy a barrel from anyone and have that problem, because you were the problem, not the seller

So the OP played gunsmith and failed? Not sure how that's epps fault. Now if the barrel had been installed by Epps that would be quite different.... But it wasn't.

    Mossberg barrel issues

    28 June 2012

    OP:

Would it not have made sense to contact Epps first before posting this matter on a public message board? You sent one profanity-laced E-mail (much as your original post here) to our business, and received a response within 14 hours, yet this seems unreasonable to you? May I ask why you made no attempt to reach our store by telephone if the matter was so pressing?

I answer about 95% of the non-photo requests or gunsmithing E-mails that pass through the Inbox at Ellwood Epps. Unfortunately, I do take the occasional day off, and yesterday (Wednesday) was one of those days. I have not seen more than a single E-mail arrive in our Inbox concerning this issue, and the lone E-mail that I did receive was dated 27 June 2012, at 6.08 PM -- eight minutes after we closed for the day.

The response that I did send back to you with regard to this situation was posted at 8.54 AM this morning --- 24 minutes after we opened for business for this day. Please explain how you were expecting a response to this E-mail any faster than I have provided?

The response you received was as follows:

    28 June 2012 @ 8.54 AM

    Sir (Name Withheld):

We do understand your concerns, however Mossberg has produced two separate versions of the 930 barrel -- both an older and a newer model. Some barrels are not interchangeable between generations of this firearm.

Our gunsmiths can certainly inspect your shotgun and affect any necessary repairs if they are attributable to the barrel in question. Please return the barrel to us, along with a copy of your original purchase receipt, and we will refund the purchase price of this item to you without any problems.

As for the shotgun itself, please include a description of the issue you have encountered, along with the information requested below, and our gunsmiths will repair any problems this barrel might have caused to your firearm.

If you are bringing or sending any firearm into our store for servicing, we must have the following information included with each firearm.

    your full name
    your address with postal code
your telephone number with area code
your PAL license number with expiry date

Without this information we cannot accept any firearm into our inventory.

Please follow these instructions, and we will do all that we can to correct this issue for you.
