DD Rifles .223 or 5.56 chambers

This is in no way intended to be a "can you fire a .223 round in a 5.56 chamber" type of thread. Just a simple question for the dealer, please.

On a different site sponsors thread regarding their Daniel Defense rifles they stated that their shipment is as the following:

"Although the barrels are stamped .223 they will in fact have 5.56 NATO chambers, stocks should be fully retractable and the flash hiders should be threaded on with no pins or weld."

Ryan, Could you please confirm if your shipment will be with the same specs?

    Thanks for your time.

Wolverine said they were .223 chambers NOT restamped 5.56, NOT .223 Wylde, NOT a proprietary "hybrid" chamber. An actual to-spec .223 chamber.

Assuming they are importing from the same "special run" of rifles that DD is making, this would mean you are getting a .223 regardless of the store you choose to buy from.

As to whether you choose to fire 5.56 NATO spec ammo from a .223 chamber, that is up to you. Just be forewarned that SAMMI reccomends AGAINST firing 5.56 in a .223 chamber due to increased chamber pressures and tighter chamber tolerances.

Umm... you realize he got that quote from the original Wolverine thread right... in one of their updates.

I stand corrected! I have been trying to stay up to date on the topic, and I somehow missed that statement by Wolverine. I am very glad to hear this!

I was under the impression that labeling a 5.56 barrel as .223 to pass import restrictions was somehow illegal. (although I don't see why)

In fact, Greentips was in quite a huff at the mere suggestion of such "illegal activity" being mentioned in these forums.

please think through it before asking questions like this. Some of these questions are not very responsible. No one should be implying the possibility that any reputable manufacturers or dealers would even think of getting themselves involved in such indictable offenses.

No harm, no foul. I just didn't want to create a second version of that thread and keep it straight to the point.

I have no idea how the industry works so I didn't know if there were different specs for different dealers. Thanks for clarifying Ryan. Your time is much appreciated.
