I was thinking of buying an SKS and a crate of ammo too; this thread has pushed me over the edge and now I really want to do it.

I bought the same pack and got it 2 weeks ago. The thing was packed with the most cosmoline I have ever seen (literally oozing out of everything) but a fun day of hot water and Hoppes Oil ended with an amazing looking rifle.
Last Friday I finally put 'er through the paces at my local range and the thing is a joy to shoot. The only issue I have is the thing ejects casings really hard... Some went 25 yards and some hit the low hanging girder and are now horribly deformed. From what I've seen, this is rather normal though haha. (I was afraid there was an issue because the first casing was 'cracked'. After a quick inspection, I noticed when the second shot was fired that it hit a low hanging girder.. Whoops)

I hope you used something other than WD-40 after you wiped it off, if not you may want to read this http://answers.yahoo.com/question/in...7091224AAUNeL9
Kerosene works really well to clean the metal parts.
I do like the sks, I have a factory 26 1967 and although I have had lots of fun with it the quality is damn rough(Not a Canadaammo sks had it for years)
So the quality fit and finish is good with this batch?
How was accuracy?
Looking for something a little nicer but still a shooter and I can
Leave my junk yard dog for the corrosive ammo I have
I bought this package -- good deal.
Decided to stock up on another crate of ammo, then figured, only another hundred and change for another SKS, so I bought the package again. Maybe I'll even go for three.
Some people collect stamps. I prefer guns!
