I have the same problem with mine ,you just have to find the best way to remove it for you .i find that if I use the mag release to push forward than grip the front of the mag with my left hand the use the mag release traditionally it will come out.first time I thought I had pooched my rifle!
The 5 round mags are a PITA to remove.
There's a lock pin on the spring guide...this is what the mag hooks into at the front. Make sure the lock pin is engaged to prevent the spring guide from moving.
5/20 round mags are a must have. Even at the 5/20 size the mags still need to be worked in quite a bit.
Wanna bet the guys complaining are the same ones still living with their parents?? LOL.
To the OP: It's an m14 clone. That's how M-14s are made for approximately the last 50 years. Complaining about the design on the retailer's area is not the right way to ask this question. If you want to know about aftermarket accessories or modifications you should post that on the appropriate forum - in this case "battle rifles", not here. It's an honest mistake but now you can see how some people use this area to slag the retailer.

My M305 has the same problem, just use the 5/20 mags or do a little file work - a little at at a time.
It's a knock-off rifle with a huge price point difference from the Springfield M1A. It' not going to be perfect for $425 - how can it be?
Wherever the mag is shiny (ie. where it is rubbing) that is where you want to remove just a bit of material.
It probably wouldn't hurt to spray a little rust protectant after filing.
Good luck and have fun.

"Guns kill people like spoons made Rosie O'Donnell FAT"
Go check on gun broker dot com, used Springfield M14s are starting at $2300 and up. I picked up 2 of the M305 shorty combos from Canada Ammo this year, and they are both fantastic guns. At around $500 each thats a quarter the price. I am very happy that Canada Ammo was able to provide these to me at such a price. I remember another product that used to be available in Canada, and a few people kept whining about very minor issues of quality. Well about 7 years ago the importer just stopped importing the product. Not being a fanboy, just being realistic.
We can kill this thread I suppose, I do have the 5/20 mags and they still were stuck. I only have a camera on my phone, so it may not be detail enough. Looks like I can touch base with CanAm though, they have the right of it. The paddle itself is not seated flush, it has nothing to do with the mags per se, just the mechanism does no sit flush when extracting a mag. The paddle almost needs to be twisted to work. Thanks for the answers however!
Edit: I am in no way ripping on the supplier, I've dealt with them both online and in person now, fantastic service.
I had the same problem with mine when I got it.
The rollpin that holds the mag release had broke on one end.I put a new one in and it has worked perfect since.
Armyman, how did you get the pin out? Mine is bent asand I cannot remove the trigger group while it is in this state. I didnt want to break it all together because it may cause more problems. Any suggestions?
