It's LEO/Military only because folks outside a government agency are hard-pressed to justify spending $310 on a pair of pants.

I keed, I keed. Patagonia makes brilliant stuff, and they've recently taken the unusual step of asking their customers an interesting question:

A 2010 case study by Harvard University’s business school pointed out that, “most radically,” Patagonia has asked its customers to “buy less and think twice before they purchased a garment.” Or as Mr. Chouinard frames his anti-sale sales pitch: “Do you really need it, or do you just want it?”
The owner of the company seems like an interesting guy.
Grammar is like personal hygiene - you can ignore it if you like, but don't be surprised when people make assumptions about you.

I thought the USMC ILBE pack was kinda iffy compared to Arcteryx civvy bags. It's not even manufactured by Arcteryx, they're made by propper. And yeah, Patagonia makes good stuff, I have an old PCU L5 jacket. FWIW, they no longer have the contract to produce the soft shell jackets for USSOCOM, although they did for a long time.

I can get (even if I dont always agree with) why companies have Mil/LEO programs, but why active only? How does a person that may be out of service in a month differ from the person that finished their service but would like the same gear opportunities.

Most active duty wouldnt have the ability to wear this gear though either except on their personal time as uniform requirements would not allow for it.

Not the kind who follow regular CF uniform standards anyway.
