It's that time of year again: Destroy all gophers!

Is there anyone around Saskatoon that is looking for a gopher shooting buddy? My .22, .22wmr and .223 are looking for some action. So far I've had no luck getting permission from any of the landowners I have talked to.

Had a good day out today shooting paper and about 20 gophers.

I made up a load with 36gr varmint grenade and h322 powder that seem to shoot good out of my 223.

Im starting to get some helicoptering going on. :)

NIce pics.

My whole life Ive never seen that many standing up at once, looks kind of funny. Ive shot in field that had that many gophers in it before. Not recently though

I shot around 30 yesterday in my sweet spot - but the numbers aren't NEARLY what they were back in the mid 2000's. Don't really know why. At one point I shot 500 from the box of my truck in an afternoon. Without moving the truck. Infestation is an understatement.

Haven't seen any little ones yet, but I'm sure in the next few weeks I will!

Not my first of the year, a few have met the .243, but these are pretty neat. Apparently called the "thirteen stripped ground squirrels", met my QB78 at 780fps in .22cal. Now the 17wsm will be introduced along with my 22-250 52 gr match at 3975fps. Should make for a great show. Maybe get the Lapua into the action as well. Just because, that why!

P.s.
I believe that the pictures of gopher that look like they went through a blender represent an immediate and humane kill to the max....so there.

I can't wait to hit our spot hard this year. It's a 500 meter valley, put blankets out, sit on top of the hill nod wait for the hills to crawl, anywhere from 10 meters to 500 meters shot attempts. Usually three to five of us up there. It's gonna be great.
