I have the SF0V4-A1 model, which is the "Chevron Reticle":

But for the price, I would have loved to get the SF0V4-C1 "BDC reticle":

And for any CQB abilty, if you push the chevron illumination red dot, it's good...

But not as good and fast as an Eotech XPS2 or Aimpoint MicroT1.

That's why a lot of people install a Burris Fastfire or Leupold on top of their Elcan:

Thanks bud, but I was talking about the flat adapter on top of the scope, the one that has the fastfire mounted to in the second pic. I did check the link and their web site but nothing.

Thanks again for your help,I did initially search and was not able to find anything until you pointed me in the right direction. I did find some Canadian site that have them. Just got my 0s4x today and what a nice piece of optic it is, will try to head out to he range tomorrow. Have another question, the illumination does seem a little weak, if I have the cross hairs illuminated all way up they are barely visible, and the if I have the entire reticle on the highest setting it is not viable at all, and a little visible in a completely dark room, it's about 7:40 in the evening right now with cloud cover, should the illumination be brighter, I'm hoping it just a weak batterie. How good is your illumination during the day.

If you bought an used sight, it could be a weak battery issue for sure... Try to find an other one, they are relatively easy to find.

It's a 3V Duracell battery, with the model number: DL 1/3N. It should be available pretty much everywhere, especially in photography businesses or specialized electronics.

Well my friend you came through again, thanks. The scope was bought new from wanstalls. I actually tried looking for a batterie earlier, but could not find any in town will try tomorrow when the source is open. And I actually tried taking the batterie out and putting it back in a few times and make sure the cap was tight but no luck. How ever I just tried again just now and it seems much brighter now. Hehe, happenned to me before also... Seems like the battery contacts are not that good. That's weird for a scope of that price, huh?!
Always keep an eye on the tightness of the battery cover, as I've noticed if I open it and don't close it tight, it give that little fade...

• Check the reticle - if the reticle does not illuminate, try replacing the battery.

It looks like I'm back to square one, the illumination returned to where it was, I am still going to get a new batterie to rule the batterie out as the issues. I think I am missing the batterie cap, is the batterie cap separate from the batterie cover? According to the diagram it looks like I missing the batterie cap.

I know what you mean and don't wory their diagram is not clear.

On the diagram (Fig. 4.1), the "battery cap" as you say, is the same as the battery cover...
It's just that they made it smaller in the picture, so the person can understand how to put the battery...

Don't worry dude, I'm sure that your battery is pretty weak and need to be swap for a brand-new one!

Out of curiosity, on which kind of rifle are you putting this on?

No, it's not my rig... I've put mine on my XCR.

But I do find it is best fitted for an AR platform than the XCR, because to have a good eye picture on a XCR you've gotta put it near the stock... Here's what i'm talking about:

Nice looking rig, how do like the xcr. I went to the range today but I did not get to shoot as much as I wanted, really love this scope so far, but will have to do some proper testing yet. I replaced the batterie and when I illuminate my cross hairs its very bright and you can see the cross hairs even if I point it straight into a light, how ever if try illuminate the entire reticle I still can not see the illumination even on the highest setting, i can see it indoors but as soon as I point the scope out the window the illumination is not seen, and also the outer side the the horizontal reptile is also dark and does not seem to light at all, is this typical or do I have an issues with my reticle.

I really like the XCR for its "non-restricted" status and that I can bring it wherever I go outdoor... It's a little bit heavier than an AR-15 though because of his long heavy barrel and piston inner parts.
I really dig the charging handle location and the ambidextrous bolt release. It is really easy to clean and field strip.

The 3 lugs bolt of an XCR is awesome and can be compared to the performance of an AK bolt.
See both pictures below. XCR bolt is on the left side and the AR bolt on the right side:

The extractor is virtually indestructible but the fixed deflector is shi* though. It's denting all my brass in the neck with a big kink. So don't think about reloading too much brass coming out of an XCR!


Now for Elcan OS4x... I'm glad you like the optic... I really love the glass on it, as it's picking every little bit of light out there and it gives a sharp image.
As for your "entire reticle issue", it's not a problem... it was made especially for that... I have the same thing on mine, even if the battery is brand new.

What we think is an issue/problem is actually a tactical advantage Elcan adressed when building their scope...
As their warning sign on page 27 of the manual says:

The SpecterOS 4x is designed to give the marksman maximum control of reticleillumination. However, at the higher illumination settings, reddish light shines forward from the sight. These higher illumination settings are for use in bright daylight. Failure to use the lower reticle illumination settings at night, or failure to take other tactical measures to hide your forward light emissions during darkness, could reveal your position.

The illuminated reticle was made for late evening/night shooting only... (shooting paper obviously... )

Try to turn on your entire reticle in a dark night... You'll see you'll have enough settings for a nice view...
I've tried to take a picture with my cellphone (hell of a job and it's blurry) of both views at night (entire reticle and only the chevron). You can see enough of reticle for night shooting for me.

It's nice the xcr is not restricted, and being able to take into the bush I bet is just great, considering what you said about it now I may just have to have one lol, although I'll have to wait a while, I went a little over board so far this year with toys. About the elcan,
What you are saying is that When I illuminate the entire reticle I am not suppose to see it in bright conditions, only in low light condition, as opposed to when I illuminate the Center of the reticle which is visible at all light conditions on the highest setting. Your right I do see the entire reticle illuminated in a low light room. What your saying makes perfect sense I just wanted to ensure that it was not an issue with illumination, thanks again so much for all the info it really put my mind at ease. This sight is fantastic bright, clear and crisp,including the reticle. Although it was cold, windy and snowing today and did not get to shoot as much wanted i still really enjoyed this optic. I was able to get a rough zero and the BDC works great to 300m, which is the max distance at our range. Thanks again bud.
