Opinions on the CZ 550 fs?

Mine is in 9.3X62 and I really like it.
Wood to metal fit is excellent and its a tackdriver, something I never expected for a short barreled full wood rifle.

...why not, the CZ550s are far better quality build including factory installed sights compared to other makes in that price bracket. :) :)

Don't read that wrong, I think CZ's are a well made gun for the money and the 550FS is one of my favorite configurations... but I have also sold all of mine... not sure what that means?

I am a fan. Have two: 6.55 x55 and 9.3x62. Like Kevan said they are surprising tack drivers. Good honest working mans rifles with no pretense . They are heavy however and the bolts on mine are rough but they point so well. Fit/finish is better than expected. All wood and steel too except for the composite bottom plate. I was able to pick up two steel bottoms while stateside this spring...dunno why CZ wont supply them to us Canucks. Imho lot of gun for the money and far superior to the Zastavas.

What about the zastava m70 mannlicher? True short action?

Afraid not.

I realize the topic is regarding 550FS.....FYI only, for 2014, CZ is offering a carbine version in CZ557 that is/will be available in both action lengths. However, in the case of the 557, CZ (sadly) has also removed some features found on the former.

Last time I checked, the distributor in the GTA had a few of those in inventory. Expensive too at $80+tax for a small piece of fashioned metal! That floor plate should've been on the rifle as default.

The Zastava is not in the same class but has all steel components and the work well finished. The wood stocks could be better. Those rifles do shoot very well....I had tested a 6.5x55 and 7.62 Russian.

I had a 550FS in. 270 and sold it. It shot well but I found it too heavy. I also wasn't fussy on how the cap was attached at the end of the stock. It was a pain to take apart. I have a 550 Medium in 9.3x62 and like it with the exception of the safety. I find it's too loud to click on and off.

I am slowly picking up more CZ550's and I love them. I don't own a FS but they are great rifles and built to last. I only have the magnums, so no plastic floor plates for me. The triggers are a little creepish out of the box, but once they are adjusted they are incredible. Better feel than my tikka trigger and that used to be my favourite factory trigger.

I have a CZ550FS in .308. I really like it. I had a scope on it that was temporary and has a new home on a more appropriate rifle. I just barely missed the scope with the bolt. I see the issue there. I need a new scope for it so will have to watch for clearance. That single set trigger is something else. Very light release when set forward. I've never used one on any other rifle. I certainly wouldn't carry it in the bush that way.

Does your 550 medium have 5 round internal mag or the 3 round mag?

Is it not the short conversion magazine that only hold 3 shells? I have heard this but have never handled one..........my 2 550 FSs both are 5 under, but both are 2.5" cases give or take.
