Long version:
I think I've decided to ditch my restricted guns so I can shoot in the bush without the constabulary wanting to take my stuff away. I am wanting to replace my AR15 and I am currently leaning towards a T97 with a FTU. I'm also considering a SU16FX but I am looking for other's opinions. I want a lighter, run-and-gun type of rifle. Any thoughts?

I run a Benelli MR1. Does the job.

when did these come to Canada? Can you get the collapsible stock model?
If yes, I must have one when I get back :)

In your price range, I would definitely go with a T97 w/FTU. But beings you are going to dump at least another $300-$400 on a LHG in the future to get a "run and gun bush gun" I would recomend saving a little more to get a used Tavor or keymod XCR. They are just so much more worth it. If you had anything more than a norc CQA as your AR, you will be relatively dissapointed with the T97. Especially with the ergonomics.

Save your pennies and buy once and cry once.

x2 !

VZ58 is an awesome platform. Cheap ammo too if you don't mind 5 extra min cleaning.

Ive handled and shot the t97... HATED it. Personal opinion, the mag release is REALLY wonky. Felt frail and weak in my hands. I was a huge fan and dead set on buying one until I handled it...

Go With the benelli! anyone who dogs a Benelli is someone who has not shot one. I took mine out to 500m no problem. Just gonna take a little bit to get used to the controls

As it happens a Norinco CQ is exactly what I have for my AR. I did love how light the keymod XCR was...

+1. comes in .223 but the factory mags are bad...need an adapter for AR mags. But the rifle feels right, shoulders right and shoots straight without fail.

I was going to buy a vz58 originally but after reading about some of the problems it has I went with the T97. And the FTU really changes the rifle.

I believe the problems are associated with the .223 version for the most part.

I say Vz58. Not too sold on bullpups at the moment.
