To everyone's credit, it is Friday the 13th LOL. As everyone else said, Wanstall rocks and probably deserved a phone call to find out about the mistake rather than hear about it on a public forum first.

(not so good) First experience with Wanstalls

The Facebook generation feels a need to "share" everything with the public before details are known.

Maybe a phone call to Wanstalls would've been the proper route.....,or send them a "tweet"..... :)

Hi Wanstalls,

So I just received the Taurus Raging Bull 44mag 6inch model that I had purchased from you guys and I have a few complaints.

I decided to go on your website and noticed that you guys had a used model Raging Bull 44mag for sale. This was advertised at a price of $700. The picture looked good and did not show any visual imperfections on the gun. However, I still called in asking if the gun was in tip-top condition given that a new one can be found for only $99 more. I was willing to pay $700 for a used Raging Bull because the advertisement stated that the gun had
Hi-Viz sights on it and the gun was said to be in very good condition.

The man I spoke to on the phone said the gun was in very good condition and only contains a mark or two that are not scratches and can be easily buffed out. Anyway, so when the gun came in, I was disappointed to see that those scuff marks are everywhere on the gun - the satin bead blasted finish has been rubbed off so the only way to restore it is to bead blast it again. This was not too big of a concern, but I also noticed that the gun had a price tag on it indicating a price of $600 and it contained no Hi Viz sights whatsoever. Just the regular black sights were on the gun. It did not come with the key lock in order to lock and unlock the hammer, and 3 out of the 6 chambers have more play than the others.

I don't know how old this gun is or how many rounds have been fired through it, but this has been a very disappointing purchase. I was led to believe things about the firearm the simply were not true. Maybe I was given the wrong firearm? and you guys really do have a $700 Hi-Viz sights Raging Bull, but the one I got is nowhere near worth $700.
got your 15 minutes of fame now call them

There are alot of people on here and a lot of them are new. Read your post and may decide not to deal with wanstalls. Posting on here should be a last resort. Always call first. We dont have enough good dealers in canada as it is, so dont paint anybody in a bad light with out calling and giving them a chance first. Unfortunely if it was set up that your post was only seen by wanstalls then it would be fine. But a huge firearms community also sees it.

You wrote an honest review of your first experience and impressions, it just happened to be sh!tty. Didn't sound like ranting or bashing at all.

I agree. Get the mistakes out in the open. Then when Wanstalls corrects the mistake and throws in a few free goodies!!! Then everyone wins. Good PR and a happy customer!!!

Yikes, posting that on a public forum without calling/emailing the store in person first? I'm sure Wanstalls will make things right but that wasn't a cool posting that in public. I can see if they told you to frack off but... ah well.

I've bought a ton of stuff from Wanstalls and I've recommended them to my coworkers and friends etc and all have had good transactions.

I'm going to play a little devil's advocate, but I think it's okay to post about your bad experience with companies on the forums. It helps people researching different businesses to see every aspect, instead of just the good. Happens to be that if someone posts something bad, CGNers get all upset about it.

While I agree that you should contact the business for resolution, I think it's fair to post any mix ups that happen. A pro of this is seeing how the business responds. In this thread, Wanstalls was polite, and looking to help. But I've seen threads of other companies, not going to name any names but I am sure we can all figure it out, where the business does not respond in quite an apologetic or helpful manner.

I personally have had great experience with Wantsalls though, customer service was fast, excellent, and easy. I think posts like these help inform first time buyers of not only the sort of mistakes that can happen (rarely with some companies), but also allow them to gauge the customer service they will receive in case a mix up may happen.

Your not a fool, because mistakes aren't what u pay for. The condition and description were incorrect- reasons for have nothing to do with u as u covered ur part of the contract. U have every right to express your views from YOUR experience, and others can express theirs. It's an indirect consequence of wanstalls for not getting what u thought u paid for to u. Time is money as I'm sure others don't like waiting another 10 days to shoot the newly purchased guns due to errors unrelated to u. Consumers shouldn't kiss businesses behinds seeing as they get paid big profits.

I have never had a problem with wanstalls!!!
Lets talk about how good they have been! There a canadain company and we should support them

+1

And either he received a gun that he believes was misrepresented, or he had the wrong gun shipped to him. That's not good.

You wrote an honest review of your first experience and impressions, it just happened to be sh!tty. Didn't sound like ranting or bashing at all.

My first experience with Wanstalls was not good. But then I had about 50 great experiences with them.
It is good you raised your concerns, because it will make Wanstalls stronger and better.

I figured this is the venue people use to voice their comments or concerns given this is a forum after all. Since it is Wanstalls' own forum, i figured I would be speaking directly to them.

If you post in their forum it is open for all to see. Just my opinion put a PM (private message) or better yet a phone call would have been the way to go first. In either case I hope it works out to your satisfaction. Regardless, post a follow up to advise how it was or was not dealt with.

I have no issue with this. It gives a chance for the company to solve the issue over a public forum which creates better publicity if it's actually a good company who stands behind their customers like Wanstalls generally is. But then again I'm from the age of technology and reading rather than word of mouth.

I always believed that you dont have to share your problems with the communauty, you only need to solve them... JP.

This reminds me of a craigslist sale. Jeez you are buying used to save money, there is always this underlying fact: IT HAS BEEN USED. save up and buy new next time

For a difference of only $99, I would've just gone new.

When you buy used, without seeing it in person, you're always taking a chance.

You should've called first, but that said, too many people here are going overboard with the insults and bashing. Chill out.

Once you've given Wanstalls a chance to correct this, you should return and write about it. If they provide good service, you now owe them a write up about it.
