Hey, I have had military experience with the C7. I owned a Norinco CQ311 which shot pretty well and was reliable. Not a fan of the 1:12" twist. It barely shot 55 grain bullets well.
Anyhow, I keep seeing these Newer Norinco's and wonder how they compare to the other AR's that can be bought for $1000 or less. Can you guys give me some suggestions for an AR? How are those DPMS Oracle rifles? Black Forge Tier 2 or 3's ????
What kind of options do I have out there. I wont be competing with it. Just shooting at no more than 300 yards for fun, and for 100 yard target work. , I plan on scoping the gun, so a flat top of some type would be necessary. Open sites are something I think I want, but it won't be a deal breaker if they don't come with the gun.
I don`t like those vertical foregrips, and will just be keeping it relatively stock. No lasers or lights. Don't care if its .223 rem, .223 wilde, or 5.56 nato either.
Help a guy out won't ya!!!!!
My list is quite simple. Something that shoots well, is reliable, has a decent chance of resale quick if I decide to get right back out of black rifles. I also don't care where in the world its made.

There's the Smith & Wesson M&P series of rifles as well.

Canada Ammo has the 20" barreled Dominion Arms rifles that can be had with a 1:9 twist.

Loving my Core 15 DI, they've dropped by a hundred bucks since I bought mine. I paid $1099 but last I saw they were $999 at wanstalls. A lot of rifle for the money, nice fit and finish. Mine has functioned flawlessly.

I have a DPMS Oracle and like it. Shoots well, runs well, seems well made, especially for the price point. Was even thinking about buying a second so the wife could have one to shoot as well.

PSA 16'' (Irungun) 699$
Bushnell 1-4x24 (Plainsight Solution) 199$-30$(mail-in-rebate)
Burris PEPR mount 99$

Now you a nice AR15 made in the USA with optic for under a 1000$!!!

I only have one AR15; it's an A1 clone circa 1969 'Nam style lol
I love it.
Only problem is the pencil barrel I found is 1:12, shoots 55 gr like a lazer beam and some 62gr. I built it for well under $1K as well. About $750 all in thereabouts.

If I could start over, I would just buy the 20" Dominion arms rifle with the 1:9 pencil barrel now that they are available and swap out the furniture for non crazy Commi plastic.
That is way under $1K and leaves you enough cash for a whole crate of Norc 5.56mm free shipping and still just at the $1K mark Sir.

Just my 2 cents.

I've recently ordered an Armalite AR-15 with 1:9 gov't profile 20" barrel ($1,200 at Wolverine) so when AR's go NR very soon I won't be left trying to find an unobtanium 18.5"+ AR barrel at an over inflated price.

Armalite make a 16" AR-15 for $1,099 again at Wolverine, so that's what my recommendation would be.

However the Smith & Wesson M+P 15 Sport (no forward assist and no dust cover) is under $1,000 with tax ($879 at Del Selin's in the EE) and re-sale should be quick and painless in the unlikely event you walk away from the dark side that is the black rifle addiction we all enjoy. So with the price point you discussed and the option of a quick sale a possibility I would make that Smith the first pick.

S & W really do look like nice guns. BUT, first I have to ask about the first sentence you wrote..............that is the third time this week I've seen a reference to AR15's soon going non-restricted. What is that noise all about.

I find it amazing that anyone in the last 40 years was able to hit anything without the super forward twist tactical grip stance.

I'm surprised they don't have a heat shield on the end of the barrels to you can grip up there...
