why is there no military surplus .303?

it was all dried up years ago I have a case that was left over from my great grandfather(who I got my lee Enfield from too) I don't shoot it though id say he most likely got it for dirt cheap in the 50's or 60's I say this because had never shot much after the 70's and never had a firearms license of any sort. and trust me you don't want any Pakistani .303 ammo its total garbage. best bet is to cast bullets and reload

On the other hand, I load .303 with cast bullets and Alliant Red Dot powder for about $7 per box of 50. Not too shabby. Shoots well enough for plinking, my 9 year old kid can shoot it, and it's cheaper than good .22 ammo.

im glade im not the only one who uses red dot in rifle cartridges I use it for almost everything

there is plenty of 7.62x54r surplus in country same with 7.62x39 and others once again sunray with misinformation

I have done this some x54r that had rusty casings(since its a unknown powder I did not feel the need to experiment) that said I shot some of that ammo with no problems
 
Remington has the 147g mil-spec load. Cheapest I have seen it was $26.99/20. Cabela's might put some on sale. Check their flyers every week.
 
There was once a little war in the mountains and some great powers ( our brothers to the south , shussssh!!) decided that it was in their best interest back the little guys with arms and ammo from a far off land ( that no one would miss) Quebec. A couple of these arsenals where magically emptied of all surplus small arms and munitions. Brens / Lee Enfields , 303/30cals and orders were made for more ammo that was never made " but they were filled in full.Conspiracy theory ?No just supply and demand. One govenments wants""one goverments chance to un load old surplus hush" hush". In side story" most of the 303 Enfield collectors talk about it in whispers amonge them selfs ( small circles) the proof is there for those that know where to look. So thats why theres no 303 /30 cal surplus ammo kicking around it was pretty much all sold out of country thats my story and I am sticking to it. To all you trolls that have anything smart to say ,do us all a favor and keep your comments to yourself thank you!
 
I bought a bucket full many years ago and it had tracers and incendiaries in it. I was wondering what the painted tips were for.

Cleaned it all out.

Sunray, where do you get your information????? Do you live in a different world????

There was a time when 30M2 ball was available by the truckload at very decent prices. That time is long past but it was available.
 
I still have a few dozen rounds of military grade that you can't hunt with, only target shoot.

I tried shooting it a few times but the scope rings on the rifle are crap and i really need to fix it :p

Last time the scope went into my face. Not a happy camper.
 
Getting an SKS is a good bet. When I go out shooting I blast away a hundred 7.62×39's and then then I've fed my itch I take slow practice shots with my no.1 mk 3 lee enfield so as to not spend a ton of money. Still though... if your going to attempt the 'mad minute' I'd say get a second job. Or save your casings and reload.
 
Well now and then bunkers of ammo are found here in Canada or Europe then the market gets flooded with 100's of thousands of rounds but then poof it is gone... just as fast there is a small shop here in Edmonton that may have an in on a stockpile of about 800,000 rounds in 1200 round boxes but we will have to wait till later this year for info on that one.
