Stainless Zastava .375?

I was going to PM you about that stainless 375 the other night, but figured it was outside the price range....I'm still vouching for the BAR-BQed Zastava, just 'cause it seems like a neat project.....and I'd like to see how it stands up. Cool hunt there Angus, that really looks like a true adventure....good on ya for putting that one together

Does he really need another woman pissed off at him?

Are you kidding BUM........I'm the expert at pissed off women, bring it on!!! No guarantees how your marriage will turn out though...........one thing in particular that I have noticed about women.......they DO NOT like being told "how it is" or "how it's going to be".....they like to feel that they may have some influence in these two aspects of life, when in fact they don't !!!

Well I'm not loving the M70, the action as always is fantastic, and a bit smoother than my well travelled Ruger RSM. The trouble I'm having is my Ruger holds five no drama, four down and one chambered, this M70 holds three. My last .375 M70 was the same of course so this is not a surprise, I'm just reminded of it. I cannot close the bolt on top of three rounds in the magazine. At three rounds, I'm having a really hard time not just cerakoting my double rifle, as it handles so much better and is proven for me. Just the very real risk of losing it. Damn, decision's still in the air I suppose.

Angus.............I have had that problem and got away with just dishing the follower about 30-40 thou where the bottom cartridge lies. Also check and make sure the cartridge is actually sitting flat on the follower and not binding up on the follower step, in which case you just have to massage the step a little wider and allow the bottom cartridge to drop all the way down.

I have often wondered, to gain that little more clearance, if you made a few "special" brass with 1 or 2 opposing edges of the belt removed somewhat for the last round....

I wonder what would happen if you turned the belt off a belted cartridge...

If the brass has been fired in this chamber, and just neck sized, it will headspace on the shoulder and the belt not needed. However that wont help in Africa if using factory ammo, should the handloads not make the trip.

If your ammo gets lost, then you shoot with 2 rounds down instead of three. Its just something to consider to avoid metal modifications.

Seeing as the .375 H&H headspaces off the belt, while I agree removing portions of it wouldn't change that and it can be loaded to headspace off the shoulder, I don't want to mess with it when the goal is to be ten yards from a herd of elephants in jungle. I'd rather modify the gun to work properly, with a decent amount of cartridges in the magazine, ideally I'd like 4-5 down and may look at Rigby style bottom metal. If I'm going to carry a repeater, I'd like a meaningful amount of magazine capacity. The other issue is the rim presents a problem too, not just the belt, as it's the same diameter. I'm not going to be cutting that away lest I be staring down a bull with an empty stuck in the chamber, I'll just grind at the follower and see where that gets me, I can buy another one cheap if required.
