This is my private shooting setup. I have steel AR400 targets 20"X22" set up at 500yrd, 800yrd and 1000yrd. The benches and the shelter are all pressure treated lumber. The 4X4 legs on the shelter are 4' into the ground and the roof is 16'wide 12' deep. This coulee has everything from rocks bigger then my truck, white mud hills, flat prairie on top with tepee rings everywhere and rattle snakes. Theres underground springs feeding a muddy spot where you can push a 7' fence post all the way in yet still stand on the ground rite beside it with out falling through. Its the closest thing to quick sand I've ever seen.

Today I was shooting my savage model 12 LRPV single shot using 115gr berger vld's in lapua brass with N150 getting great results.

I guess I should say this 1/4 section of land is not mine its a relatives. Hes nice enough to let my ride the ATV's and shoot out there, just not allowed to drive in with full sized vehicles. I can only get to 800yrd if I'm shooting off the bench. I have to go back behind the benches and lay on the ground to get out to 1000yrd Yes we could have put the benches 200yrd back from the edge but then we would not have the great coulee view if we did that.

A couple of times throughout the year during the warmer months, several friends get together to shoot out to just over 1000 yards. Two years ago a buddy attended with his own 6mmBR built on a Savage action. He was the easiest to get on target, with the longest continuing string of hits from one session. IIRC he uses Sierra bullets for most of his successful rifle shooting.

Great cartridge indeed!

Don't take this personal but I hate you!!! :)

Nice range, you're very fortunate, most of us dream of something like that.

Beautiful, simply beautiful. I must say that as a long-time urbanite who used to drive to the range for weekend shooting I never truly appreciated how wonderful it is to have the ability to shoot on ones own land until moving to a rural area last year. I can't imagine ever having to line up to use a shooting bench again !

That's a beautiful spot!!

Impressive to hear that your 8 twist barrel is stabilizing such a heavy bullet.

I never thought it would, it was more of an experiment than anything. It turned out surprisingly well. With a little wind these bullets make better groups for me then the 105 lapua or 105 berger, with no wind its the same groups from 100 out to 1000

What velocitys are you getting with with 115gr bullets?

N-150 26 gr average 2500fps
N-150 26.5gr average 2548fps

loading manual shows 2527fps with 27.5gr N-150 as max in a 24" barrel. I have a 26" barrel so I should be able to push a little faster then what the manual shows but I still just stick with the 26gr at 2500fps because it seems to be working very well. Also I'm seating the bullets 0.020" off the lands

Good definition of a cow/cows...!

kinda like a self propelled mentally retarded bulldozer........

I can see the previous poster has a good knowledge of cows !!! :)
