Well, after waiting 8 months for my Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS in. 338 Win Mag to come in, I decided to ship it out and have it rebored and re chambered to the awesome .358 Norma Magnum. It was brand new and unfired. I'm guessing it will probably be another 8 months to a year before I get it back but it should be a great moose / giant bear hammer. I also bought a Boyd's laminate Prairie Hunter in the Royal Jacaranda color and it's absolutely gorgeous. I had to share my excitement with you CGNERS. Nobody around here gives a hoot, lol.

I love the idea and have thought of doing the same thing. I'm a .35 caliber fan and I have a stainless Ruger MKII in .35 Whelen which is a re-barrelled .30-06. If my donor at the time would have been a magnum I would have gone the .358 Norma route as well. I like to see these older classic in modern stainless rifles. Can't wait to see the final product.

Here are a couple of photos of my Winchester Model 70 Extreme Weather SS in .270 Win. I bought this Sky Laminate Prairie Hunter stock at the same time as the Royal Jacaranda. Both stocks fit absolutely perfect. I'm very happy with the fit and finish of these Boyd's stocks and would highly recommend them to anyone. I've also included a photos of my .358 Norma Magnum cartridge. This has a slightly longer neck, allowing me to use full length .300 Win Mag cases resized.

Here's a picture of my Ruger Number 1 chambered in .358 Norma Magnum. I love this rifle too.

Well, here she is boys. It has a gains twist in it from 26 to 14. I just mounted a Leupold Vari-XIII 2.5 x 8 with Boone and Crockett Reticle. I'm hoping to take it out to the range some time this week. The stock is a Boyds in Royal Jacaranda with a 13" length of pull, perfect for me! Now I just need to get her sighted in and I'm good to go moose hunting next month. I can hardly wait. I have some 250 Hornadys loaded up waiting to be shot.

She's kullourful nuff to take to a barn dance.
Hope she makes them holes nice'n tight fer yah.

Post up some targets when ya have a hanker'n.............

Super cool. Eager to see how she shoots. A stainless 358 is pretty neat...I've come close on several occasions to doing the same thing....how long did it take to get the barrel back?

I shipped the barreled action out on May 2nd and I just got it back on Thursday. I'm happy with the turn around and with the quality of the work.
