338 snipetac Data

This is probably the wrong forum to ask this but I'm doing it anyway because I feel more ppl look at this one than the reloading one.

I need some load data for the 338 snipetac. I have 300gr smk bartram brass and lots of powder options. The gun is going to have the following specs.
Stiller Tac 408 single shot 40 Moa rail
Benchmark 1-9 finished at 30"
Timney Calvin elite trigger
Manners T5A stock
Muscle break
NF NSX 8-32x56 MOAR T mounted in near alpha mount

Look for a good starting point thanks in advance guys and gals

stevesummit is the right guy to talk to. I believe he is running 50bmg at about 138 grains and using the 300gr berger OTMs. Was using Jameson brass, but only got 4 loads before primer pockets loosened up. Just picked up his Bertram. PM him for some more details. I will email him this link.

Thanks Jay, I think I should be able to do 3200-3300fps with out a problem. I've herd a guy can push them faster but accuracy falls apart but that's only what I've read.

Shouldn't be to much longer been told my reamer will be here in a couple weeks then just a matter of spending a day or two in the shop

Wowsers... 500fps faster than the LM, that's impressive. Barrel life has got to be under 2k rounds though to push a 300SMK that fast.

Barrels are a commodity, and easy to come by. But just in case I had this one made with an extra long shank so I can set it back at least once

True enough, .338 has gotten quite common in the last number of years, so it is not much of a surprise seeing reasonably priced blanks available.

What kind of powder / charge are you planning on loading?

Pretty sure Steve has his at like 3400fps. Barrel life was estimated at 700rds. I believe I took 0.21% when he let me try it.

Steve is running right around 3350 I believe. Make my 338 improved look like its in a wheelchair.

Not concerned about barrel life, it's a fact of shooting these over bore caliber guns. Steve is an awesome guy, invited me out to try his out next time he's out shooting which works out good for me. It's right in the same area I'm working!
