I am initiating a small group of friend to shooting handguns in 6 weeks. I have a 9 and a 40 that i use for comp, but i wish to start the learning curve with a 22.
I once had a ruger single six, i dont like single action revolvers. I must buy from a dealer, as the transfer would be sure to be processed in the next month.
In the 300-350$ range (+tax & ship), used or new, dealer owned, DA revolver or any semi pistol, you guys can direct me to good deals going on?

Reliable Gun in Vancouver (Site Sponsor) may have some more Beretta Model 71 semi-auto. These were converted from 4 inch to 6 inch barrels and are all steel. I have never had a mis-feed or any other problems with mine and it is very accurate.
Some other Dealers have them as well, there seems to be quite a few of them around.

The Beretta 71 is one of the most reliable .22LR blowbacks ever made. Mine is 100% reliable with almost all common bulk ammo EXCEPT for 333s.

The is a fairly small/short grip on these pistols. I don't have large hands and I found them to be cramped. In fact, it's the reason I sold mine. Otherwise it was a great little gun.

22 rifle would take the stress out of waiting. If not, one of the dealers had Ruger Mk 2's or 3's on promo for $325'ish a few weeks back. Probably over now but their regular price iirc was very good also. As long as the seller gets on the phone fast you shouldn't have an issue buying of of EE. Make it clean when you make your offer that you've got an event upcoming and it needs to be done pronto and you should be fine.

Best bang for the buck>>>>>>>>S&W 22A-1. A tack driver for $345 +/- a few $$. Or, if you are a Browning fanboy>>>>>>the Browning Buckmark is a good one.

Beretta Neos, Browning Buckmark, Ruger (Mark 2 or 3), GSG 1911 for pistols, Ruger Single 6 or Alfo Proj 22 for revolvers. These are reasonably prices and have been reliable in my personal experience. Others may have had different experience with the same firearms.

The Beretta Neos looks like something out of Star Trek and the upswept beavertail on the GSG/Sig 1911-22 looks really stupid. lol and IMO. :stirthepot2:

Thanks all for the responses, to sum it up.
Yes i would buy a very nice ruger mklll or 22/45, this will be a guest/wife gun, a bit myself too, to top it off im strapoed for cash lately.
I did see an interesting link someone posted of the basic 22/45, the one you cannot remove grips off of, definatly eyeballing it as my number one choice before comming back to thread was buckmark.
22 rifles just couldnt do it, everyone has shot those, when taking guests out i want to get them initiated to handguns, and a few mags of 22 can get a few things sorted out before bringing out the 9 and the 40.
Yeah those beretta neos avec very ugly, i will admit, i do like if my firearms look good. On the plus side the good looking ones tend to resell quicker in the EE in my opinion.
I did eyeball GSG, they would be great as i compete with 1911s and they complement this, but i feel i would be missing the reliability part. I might be wrong, but a S&W, ruger or buckmark just feel like they would last longer.

That 22/45 Mark III I posted about at Flaherty's has a rear sight that's adjustable for both windage & elevation, comes with 2 mags, in a non-lockable case.
Their price was the best I could find. Found one with removable grips for about $50 more. Since I'm using it to shoot, I figured I'd put that $50 towards ammo. Stock grips are grippy enough for me right now, although as this is my 1st handgun, I'll admit I don't know too much :)

Yes you are reading my mind, so far this is the one.
I went to check out and they did not have an EMT option.
Will have to call them thursday to ask them, i do not want to go credit.

It's official i went with an EE 22/45, i know its often repeated, but i could not beleive the amount of overpriced 22/45s in the classifieds, found one priced just right. I am happy a nice model without feeling i will be compromising on quality.
It has removable grips, do 22/45s take standard 1911 grips?
I see the slide lock seems a bit in the way and i'm up to trim the grips a bit, wife would be pleasantly surprised if i'd show her with pink grips. And guests will have to shoot the pink gun and hit the target well before progressing to grownup stuff lol.

You can't go wrong with a Ruger MK series HG. They're proven and built to last. The one's I've owned were not picky on HV ammo even the bulk stuff.
IMO the fixed panel grip (22/45 model) is too thin. The RP panel model fills the hands much better and you should be able to find standard 1911 grips to fit(but if you're tight for $$ you're better off buying ammo).

The pink hogue grips are under 20$ at taccessories, i should manage, this will be the wifes gun so to speak.
She was my guest for the first time at the range today, and she did not like the commander lenght 1911 9mm, kicks too much for her to have fun. So this little gun should be perfect for her to learn. In a few paychecks i'll gear her up in pink stuff to show her i care lol.

Edit: oh and btw, guys running the 22/45s, whats your favorite ammo that feeds flawlessly?

I have received my EE 22/45, man these are a real b@tch to dissassemble. Far from the 1911 simplicity!
Fully stripped and clean, i'm happy it shoots straight.
