Bear Down with 9.3x62 Mauser+ AND 4Point Mule Buck Nov, 8

Went out this evening on a stroll , hunting, was hoping to get a 4point buck but saw no deer, but ended up seeing a black bear. It was approx. 75-80 yards away, used my zastava m70 in 9.3x62 topped with Nikon prostaff 3-9x40, 285 gr privi bullet @ approx. 2400/2450 fts. One shot one kill. The bear dropped on the spot then got up and went a few yards groaning and moaning then fell dead. It was a broad side shot hit the top lungs close to the spine.

SHOT THIS 4X4 MULE BUCK WITH MY 9.3X62, 1 SHOT 1 KILL, LUNGS SHOT @ APPROX 40 YARDS, BUCK WENT APPROX 15 YARDS AND DROPPED.

Nice looking animal and rifle.

That pelt will make a nice rug.
One thing about the fall black bear hunting season (starts Aug 15 in my area) is that the pelts were better because the fur are much thicker and more lustrous on them than the patchy pelts we got off some of the spring killed bears when the spring bear season was legal.
 
The Zastava is a well built rifle.
I think Remington marketed them once upon a time as the model 788.
A friend brought a Zastava to me in 458 Winchester complaining that it was pretty rough.
It was pretty rough but after I stripped it down and deburred and stoned and polished the internals I would match it up against any Winchester model 70 ever produced whether it be a pre-64 model 70 or one of the new ones made in the FN factory in CT.
The w/m fit was excellent and it had CRF which I like to see in a dangerous game rifle.
It was also very accurate.
My buddy still has it.
That gun of my friends turned out to be a diamond in the rough.

Agreed.... have never found anything wrong with a zastava that couldnt be fixed by sitting by a bonfire and repeatedly cycling the bolt.... well made using extremely good steel.... every one I have owned including my current 22 has been a solid piece....
 
I happy with the zastava rifles, it seems like they are all acuurate good shooting rifles, the bolt on my 9.3 seen in the pictures is pretty smooth already from cyclying the bolt many times.
